ATXHackNight tonight!
There’s a github page for the group now: http://atxhacknight.github.com.
This group was conceived as a new kind of Ruby meetup, but several people have questioned the need to call it a Ruby group, and one person suggested calling it “ATX Hackers”. I’m fine with that, and given the group we had last week I think it makes sense to include anyone who wants to show up.

The Ruby Group I Wish Austin Had
There have been rumblings about a new Ruby-focused meetup in Austin. There’s nothing to suggest that the new meetup is more than another instance of Austin On Rails, sans Rails. To me, this is a missed opportunity.
I’ve heard people compare AOR to a salon, but I’m not really a salon kind of guy. I’d rather be out in my workshop building stuff than talking about it.

1 can of black beans
Throw the rice in the microwave and cook for 90 seconds…it cooks in the bag and is the...

Rails App Suck Factors
I’ve been working with Rails since very close to its beginning, and over the past few years I’ve been asked to review a number of Rails apps.
When you ask one programmer/developer/engineer/whatever about another person’s work, they’re invariably going to tell you it sucks. The question then is: how much does it suck?
Here are some general things to look for:
Lameness...
